Everywhere we turn we see infomercials, billboards, magazine ads all showcasing the latest and greatest weight loss product which guarantees to make you thin overnight. The truth is you didnt gain weight instantly and you are not going to take it off instantly. When you get serious about losing weight, you will realize that these quick solutions are not the answer; but hard work and commitment is the only way to lose weight and keep it off.

Know That You Reach Your Goal

You have to believe that you can lose the weight.

Belief is as much of a necessity as changing your diet and developing an exercise routine. The chances of you successfully completing a weight loss program without believing strongly that you can are slim to none.

Prior to beginning your weight loss journey, take a minute to find the reason that you want to lose weight and write it down. Once that is done, decide on the total amount of weight that you will lose and vow to hit that number. Make a promise to yourself that no matter how hard it gets or how long it takes, you will reach your goal.

Staying positive and holding on to the belief that you can will require you to feed your mind with positive thoughts daily. Bad days are inevitable, the key is not to let one or two bad days make you quit short of your goal.

The longer you stay with the program the easier it will become. This is because you will start to feel better, have more energy and literally begin to watch your body transform before your eyes.

Drink Water

Water is needed to hydrate our bodies and keep our internal structure functioning at its best.

Sipping on water throughout the day is a great way to alleviate snacking because it helps to keep you full between meals.

Drinking at least 8 glasses of water daily will not only help keep you hydrated but it will also improve your bodys ability to digest food and eliminate wastes.

Another benefit of water is if you have a glass before eating, it will help fill you up and help prevent you from overeating.

Make Exercise A Part Of Your Life

Exercise is an important part of any weight loss program. Although losing weight without exercising is possible, you will have better and longer lasting results if you make it a regular part of your program.

If you havent exercised in a while or flat out dislike exercising, start out with an easy exercise like walking. Taking a brisk walk outside in the evening can be fun and refreshing. Do whatever exercise you want as long as it motivates you to get up off the couch and start moving.

Ideally, you should get to a point where you are working out for at least 30 minutes 5 days per week or more.

When you feel ready for more advanced workouts, aerobic workouts such as Zumba or Hip Hop Abs may be a good choice. These work outs tend to burn a lot of calories, helping you to lose weight and tone up.

Adding exercise to your life will do more than just trim your waistline. It will drastically improve your overall health and reduce the likelihood of being afflicted with various ailments to include diabetes and heart disease.

Eat 5 Or 6 Small Meals Daily

Eating 5 to 6 smaller meals instead of 3 large meals will help you stay full and satisfied all through the day.

If your goal is to take in no more than 1500 calories per day you have to make sure all your small meals combined do not exceed this number.

If planning 6 small meals seems difficult, just make 3 meals and split them in half.

Get At Least 7 Hours Of Sleep Nightly

Not getting enough sleep alters the level of ghrelin in the body. Ghrelin is the hormone that regulates hunger in the body and when sleep deprived causes an increase in appetite.

The ideal amount of sleep is between 7 to 8 hours per night. When the body is deprived of sleep it throws off your metabolism.

A good way to sleep better is to relax in a hot bath containing lavender an hour or two before bed and avoid anything that has caffeine after you eat dinner.
