Lose the Wrinkles and Look Younger

By Anne Fennell

With new developments happening all the time, treating facial wrinkles has become more specialized with a better understanding of cosmetic treatments. No one wants to be though of as "old" but sadly in this world, having younger looking skin is very important and if there are visible wrinkles others will not find a person as attractive.

But what do wrinkle treatments involve? With so many offering the treatments, what is it you should be aware of before you opt for it? In this article, we will examine wrinkle treatments in more detail.

Exactly what is involved when getting wrinkle treatments?

Toxins in the air are all around us, whether it comes from the exhaust from cars, the smoke from cigarettes, or the burning rays of the sun, skin takes it's share of damage and abuse. Wrinkles are just another name for the not very appealing lines that appear on one's face, and in the case of numerous lines, the problem is just compounded.

Botulinum toxin is used to smooth out the fine lines in one's face, and these wrinkle treatments can make a big difference aesthetically. To remove lines, all kinds of things are considered, basic skin cream of course, laser treatments, and chemical peels are also performed. The popularity of botox treatments is gaining ground quickly, despite the other options available. We see ads for products on the market constantly, but the truth is that anti-wrinkle creams can only do so much to make wrinkles less noticeable.

Which of the available treatments will have the most benefit?

Unfortunately there is no clear answer to this question. Everyone is different, so the treatments chosen are tailored to the specific needs of the patient. From the available data and result, it appears that dermal fillers and botox injection have very good results, which is probably why they are so popular.

For how much time will a patient benefit from treatments?

This depends on the type of treatment patients decide to have. The amount of time that a skin cream will be noticeable is not long, and daily use may not even make a big difference. Botox injections are a dermal filler option that will typically last for months on end.

Cost and cost efficiency

Treatment of facial wrinkles is not cheap. The process chosen and the treatment provider are the deciding factors in cost, it can be around $300 or even up to $3000 or more, as these advanced treatments take specialized equipment, materials, and training. If someone doesn't mind applying skin creams every day and buying more often, this is an option for some. After a period of time, the proper cost of treatments and the results obtained can be measured more accurately. Overall however, it may be that botox injections and dermal fillers are the most cost effective amongst all the treatments available for face wrinkles. There are also some doctors who make the claim that the most economical means of reducing wrinkles is by CO2 laser.

Downtime following procedures

No recovery time is necessary for skin creams. Microdermabrasion looks right now to likely be the quickest healing procedure of the specialized treatments available. Having said that, this does not make microdermabrasion the best treatment as multiple treatments are required that can be rather uncomfortable to the patient.

Synopsis

Wrinkle treatments for facial wrinkles are many. There are both good and bad points for each kind of treatment. Patients should take all of these things into careful consideration, including looking at the provider's credentials and experience, the price, and which treatments they feel they can handle best.
